Frequently Asked Questions
Troubleshooting
General steps
- Confirm your device is connected to the internet.
- Close and reopen Bird-AR.
- Confirm the latest app version is installed.
- Sign out and sign back in when appropriate.
- Confirm required permissions have been granted in iOS Settings.
- Try the feature again after a few minutes.
- Contact support if the issue continues.
Images not loading
Bird-AR automatically rotates to alternate verified photos when the first URL fails. If no photo loads, the species may not yet have a verified live photograph — this is expected and not an error.
Audio not playing
The player automatically tries alternate verified recordings and reports broken links so we can requeue them. Confirm your device volume is up and that the tab is not muted.
Map not loading
The map loads OpenStreetMap tiles. Check your connection, and disable strict content or ad blockers that may block tile requests to tile.openstreetmap.org.
Sign-in problems
Make sure your email is spelled correctly and that you are using the same provider (email or Google) you registered with. If you signed up with Google, use the Google button instead of a password.
Password reset problems
Check spam and promotional folders for the reset email. If your account was created with Google, you do not have a password — sign in with Google instead.
Language not changing completely
Bird-AR ships translations for the interface in English, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish. Some individual bird facts may not yet have a verified translation; those show a localized “no verified information yet” message rather than English fallback text.
Favorites or progress not saving
You must be signed in to save favorites and sync progress. If you are signed in and still see nothing, check your connection and try again — background sync will retry automatically.
Account Management
Manage your account from the Profile tab. Deletion is available under Profile → Danger Zone → Delete Account, or open it directly below.
